Nepalโ€™s education system is effectively producing two distinct classes of citizens, creating a deep socio-cultural divide that challenges our national identity and economic future:

๐Ÿ. ๐‘‡โ„Ž๐‘’ "๐ป๐‘ฆ๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘‘" ๐ถ๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ง๐‘’๐‘› ๐‘“๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘š ๐‘ƒ๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘ฃ๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘’ ๐‘†๐‘โ„Ž๐‘œ๐‘œ๐‘™๐‘–๐‘›๐‘”: Private institutions often produce students with relatively good English proficiency but a growing disconnect from their roots. Immersed in Western pop cultureโ€”from Netflix and Hip-hop to a "Coffee-shop" lifestyleโ€”these students often find themselves oriented more toward individual success than community cohesion.

A. #The_Result : A persistent "inferiority complex" regarding Nepalโ€™s potential. When we teach children to view their own culture only through a Western lens, we cultivate a desire for migration. Those who stay often become high-level "obedient employees" (doctors, engineers, bankers) rather than the "visionary entrepreneurs" or "statesmen" the country desperately needs. They become "Hybrid Citizens"โ€”stuck between a culture they haven't fully mastered and a heritage they are slowly losing.

2. ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’† "๐‘น๐’‚๐’๐’Œ๐’†๐’…" ๐‘ช๐’Š๐’•๐’Š๐’›๐’†๐’ ๐’‡๐’“๐’๐’Ž ๐‘ท๐’–๐’ƒ๐’๐’Š๐’„ ๐‘บ๐’„๐’‰๐’๐’๐’๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ: In public schools, the focus shifts from collaboration to a rigid, zero-sum competition. From the seating arrangements to the order of the roll call, everything is dictated by academic ranking.

B. #The_Sociological_Impact : This mirrors the "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy." By labeling children as "first" or "last" based solely on a three-hour exam, we fix their self-worth at a young age. We aren't teaching them that every individual has a unique talent; we are teaching them that their value is relative to someone else's failure.

C. #The_Cultural_Gap : We are left with a paradox: One group is "Over-exposed" yet culturally unanchored, while the other is "Under-prepared" for a globalised world. One group struggles to master the depth of the Nepali language, while the other feels that learning beyond the basics is unnecessary once they cross the borders of Tribhuvan International Airport.

#The_Challenge_for_the_New_Leadership: Are we running schools, or are we running classification plants? If our education system cannot produce confident, creative citizens who are tethered to their roots yet capable of global competition, we will remain trapped between these two extremes.

It is time for new government to move beyond superficial fixes and address the structural rot in our educational philosophy. We need a system that values cooperation over competition, creativity over ranking and identity over imitation.

What are your thoughts? Is our current education system preparing the next generation for Nepal, or for the departure gate?
